Rogers Mini Kit in Black Diamond Pearl
This item has sold and is no longer available.
This is a cool little combination of new and old gear we put together to make the perfect club kit. We started with a 16" Dyna-Sonic tenor drum converted to a bass drum, added an early '70s 14" tom as a floor tom, and then built a brand new 10" tom to round out the kit. This kit sounds tight and much bigger than you would expect!
Includes:
- 7" x 10" Tom
- 10" x 14" Floor Tom
- 12" x 16" Bass Drum
- Clamp-on tom holder for the 10" tom
- Cymbal stand base is not included
Rebuild Notes:
The idea for this kit started when we acquired a 12" x 16" Dyna-Sonic marching tenor drum (Apparently the Dyna-Sonic name was applied to any drum with a 10 lug hoop.) The interior has a gloss natural finish. All we did to this drum was true the edges, add bass drum spurs and build a set of maple hoops with matching inlay. This drum is possibly from the late '60s. We also added a Gibraltar bass drum lift to make it easier to play. The holes in the top of the shell were from the removal of the carrier clip and a tone control (which we can include with the kit if you like.)
The 10" x 14" tom appears to have been an early '70s Fullerton era drum. The finish was in bad shape, so it was stripped, all extra holes were filled and the interior was repainted. All the lugs are original. All the edges have been flattened and the exterior profile re-cut.
That left us one drum short, and since Rogers never really built a double-headed 10" tom we decided to build one from scratch. This 7" x 10" tom has a thin Keller 6ply male shell with 6ply re-rings beveled top and bottom in the Rogers style. We chose a 5 lug pattern to keep the amount of metal bolted to the shell at a minimum (keeping the tone a bit darker for its size.) All hardware on this drum is brand new.
